The catheter assembly is at the heart of the Saflo^TM infusion system. This provides the means to introduce the soft catheter into the subcutaneous tissue and for the safe removal and disposal of the introducer needle. A secure tape fixing with a large transparent area for site visualisation allows full observation of site condition at all times. Coupled with one of the optional connection devices this provides the means to deliver a wide range of therapy options.

Coupled with the catheter the standard connector will provide the basic means for straight forward infusions. The detachable connector allows for disconnection for patient convenience, or easy replacement of this single component in the event of medication changes intended to use the same infusion site. This is available with a standard luer-lok connection or with the optional anti-syphon valve connector.

To meet those occasions where additional drug may be required during the course of a standard infusion the optional y-port tubing set provides a simple solution to avoid multiple injections for the patient. The y-port is a needle-free swappable port of a type widely used worldwide and provides a further aid in the avoidance of needle stick injury. As with the standard tubing the y-port set is available with an anti-syphon valve on the continuous infusion line segment.

Where the patient requires multiple injections, but does not need continuous infusion the injection port assembly may be selected. This uses the needle-free, swabable, injection connector to allow injections without subjecting the patient to needless needle insertions.

The Saflo^TM extension sets can be used with the Saflo safety catheter system or independently across a wide range of applications. They are appropriate where there is a physical requirement for extended length of tubing. Designed with the same low volume, kink resistant tubing as the other products in the range these provide the best choice for this application. The extension sets are immediately available as a standard line or with an anti-syphon valve incorporated in to the line.
